we went to lynne's twins' first birthday party today. pretty uneventful which is actually really nice for a first birthday party.
yeah, that's it - that's all i got. people forgot how to drive today. i had to go shopping and remembered why i never try to go anywhere on saturday. i bought like seventy thousand things of juice - just another reminder not to shop when you really want something. my kid was talking to himself whn he woke up this morning "and then sir topham hat" (he's no longer pig, now he is sir topham hat)"asked his mommy if she could turn on the little light" too fucking funny.
yep guess i'll have to start living a more exciting life or start taking hallucinogens or something so it seems interesting.
OH - one thing. i did look into the whole teaching thing. you apparently have to be a rocket scientis to be a teacher in this state. it was almost impossible to cipher. so i started talking to lynne about it tonight and she told me about the particular kind of teaching called an ABA where you deal with kids with behavioral or any other myriad of problems. she said she thought of me doing it because of my manner with children - that i'm strong without being imposing. it's actually right on target. so i'm gonna look into it. i mean i'll have to go to school but the idea of protecting kids, making kids who don't feel safe feel safe . . . anyway, more on it later. it's not a plan - it's the shadow of whisper of a plan.
i'm the shadow of a whisper of consciousness - i'm audi5 baby

it's tangential, but if you needed any more reason to rage, here's a story that will stand your outrage prick like a dirty naked whore in the filthy shit rain:

holy fuck, I can't even get through this story without literally seeing red(pinkish in the eyes, creeps in and makes the world vignette-style)
you might feel similar, and blog upon't.
OK so it really had nothing to do with your blog at all and I am sorry but i wanted to prime your pump w/ the story listed. the full court decision is good reading.
PS here is the decision:

I'm thinking you might wanna come up with a different idea other than hallucinogenics. Just sayin is all.
Move to Michigan - you can just start teaching if you moved here.
Who is anon and why don't they get their own blog?
Anon - i truly hate to disappoint but that decision is sound. they looked to see if there was a secular reason to make that statement. all he had to say is "there is absolute no scientific basis for creationism"- would have served his purpose without maligning. do i think there was anything wrong with what he said?? no, i agree with him but freedom of religion means that the government (and public schools are government) can not go around disparaging peoples' religions. i know it's a dicey game but you have to err on the side of caution. course the article was meant to incite because if it was meant to show the case it would have featured the statement he made that "religion was invented when the first con man met the first [sucker?]" i don't remember the exact word. and yes i know he was trying to quote twain but this wasn't english lit class. personally, i don't want public schools involved in kids religious life - at all - pro or con is irrelevant to me.
kim - i might remind you that i had taken to mushrooms just fine. in fact, the first time - an entire ounce by myself walking through the esplanade on memorial day fine. i think i just don't want to do them with YOU ;)
as for teaching in michigan. well, first - no. but anyway, besides that, even in detroit you have to have a bachelors. plus i just recently read a story where their answer to the edu issue was to cut teachers. i'll have to see if i can fidn it again. oh, and also - um, no.
anon prefers to remain anon and i don't really know.
cassdawn, It wasn't the outcome of the trial per se, but the idea that a teacher , no matter how obsteprous, prickish and horrible, could be dragged through the courts for what he says in a classroom- the only reason this stuck is becuase he was teaching "advanced european studies" or something not science realated.
leaving aside the fact that a creationist student demonstrably lacks reasoning skills and their work can be assumed to be flawed, why the eff shouldn't he be allowed to voice his opinion if the subject comes up?
how dare some little creep maggot hold their teachers(and probably everyone else around them) hostage to gibberish they've learned by rote from their sadly uninformed parents?
what if next it's girls who can't answer questions since thy're religious beliefs don't allow females to speak to males not in the family? that's actually a custom some places. ppl this far off their rocker should not be allowed in mainstream society. they should be shunned and mocked.
this is creeping religiosity; that's the outrage; some hateful nutcrackers with a jesus complex manouvered their idiot child into a position where they used him to thrust the crowbar of ignorance into the wooden gate of learning.
obv. we don't want public schools involved in religious life of kids, but do you want religion involved in public learning? that's what this is about.
also, RE shrooms, may i just remind yall that posting information on a blog about illegal activities is more than considered justification for action by the authorities, should it come to their attention. information about illegal-type stuff really should only be exchanged under a plausible pseudonym or anonymously.
Anon - yeah, i hear ya but i still disagree. the man disparaged religion and ya can't do that. i feel like i should pontificate that further but really there's nothing else to say. the girl who can't answer questions - yeah, i know it's dicey. i mean should jewish kids get to wear a yamulke? how about crosses? can ya wear that? if it's all silly religious crap why should those kids get to advertise?
and yeah, i hear ya -
